VETERINARY PATHOLOGY ASSOCIATION (VPA) VETERINARY PATHOLOGY CONGRESS (NATIONAL / WITH INTERNATIONAL PARTICIPATION / INTERNATIONAL) AWARD DIRECTIVE

Every oral and poster presentation accepted to the congress is a candidate for the award, if it meets the award application requirements.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR VPA VETERINARY PATHOLOGY CONGRESS (NATIONAL/ WITH INTERNATIONAL PARTICIPATION/ INTERNATIONAL) ORAL/POSTER PRESENTATION AWARDS

 

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Article 1. Candidates can apply with studies in the field of oncology or diseases and pathology related to clinical sciences, which have been done in Turkey or abroad.

Article 2. Candidates can apply with more than one work, but cannot receive more than one award. It is required that it should not be more than 2 years after the completion of the study, owner of the work has not applied for or received any other national/international awards before. Case reports will only be considered for the award if they are found to be a contribution to science.

Article 3. Veterinarians or academicians can apply. It includes activities that increase candidates’ communication and oral presentation skills.


REQUIREMENTS FOR POSTER PRESENTATIONS:

Article 4. The poster presentations should be prepared according to the explanations detailed below.

  1. The poster should be placed on a 70×100 cm sheet and be in a size that can be easily read.
  2. There should be enough space on the right, left, bottom and top edges of the poster.
  3. Font should be “Arial”, “Calibri” or “Times New Roman”.
  4. There should be one line of space at the top and bottom of the text sections. Instead of paragraph spacing, there should be one line space between paragraphs. The text should be justified.
  5. The title should be a maximum of 10 words and should fully reflect the content of the study. The title should be written in bold capital letters and centered on the first line of the text area. The name and surname of the researchers should be written after the title, and the institution they work for should be clearly stated on the next line.
  6. The poster language should be Turkish in national congresses; Turkish and/or English in international congresses, and English in international congresses.
  7. The Turkish and English abstracts of the poster paper submitted to the congress with national or international participation and to be published in the proceedings booklet should not exceed 300 words each. Within the scope of these abstracts, the keywords, purpose, material-method, findings and results of the study should be adequately stated. Pictures, tables or graphics should not be included in the abstracts. For foreign participants, Turkish abstract is not required.

    If the abstract is sent for international congress and to be published in the proceedings booklet, it has to be written in English.

  8. It is not necessary to have a Turkish abstract in the poster presentations prepared at the national congress.

    If the poster presentation is prepared for the congress with international participation and written in Turkish, an abstract in English should be added, or if the poster presentation is written in English, an abstract in Turkish should be added. For foreign participants, Turkish abstract is not required.

    For the posters to be presented at the international congress, it is not necessary to include an abstract in English.

  9. If the abstract is included, the keywords should be listed in the next line (with one line spacing), in alphabetical order and not more than 6 words.
  10. A light color should be preferred for the background of poster presentations.
  11. Ancillary items that can increase visual perception (photographs, tables, graphics, colored cardboard printing, etc.) should be included adequately in the poster. The images such as photos, graphics, etc. used in the poster presentation should have high resolution and print quality.
  12. If any project or research support has been received for the study, this support should be stated at the bottom of the poster text.
  13. The references do not have to be stated in the poster presentations.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ORAL PRESENTATIONS:

Article 5. Oral presentations should be prepared according to the explanations detailed below.

  1. The Turkish and English abstracts of the studies submitted for oral presentation at the congress with national or international participation and to be published in the proceedings booklet should not exceed 300 words each. Within the scope of these abstracts, the keywords, purpose, material-method, findings and results of the study should be adequately stated. Pictures, tables or graphics should not be included in the abstracts. For foreign participants, Turkish abstract is not required.

    If the abstract is sent for oral presentation at the international congress and to be published in the proceedings booklet, it has to be written in English.

  2. Turkish language should be used in the oral presentations at the national congress.

    Oral presentations at the congress with international participation should be made in Turkish and English, as two columns on each slide. For foreign participants, Turkish explanation is not required.
    Oral presentations at the internationas congress should be made in English language.

  3. Presenters should take into account the presentation time determined by the organizing committee and be careful not to exceed it.
  4. A light color for the background and dark color for the fonts should be preferred for the slides of oral presentations.
  5. Ancillary items that can increase visual perception (photographs, tables, graphics, colored cardboard printing, etc.) should be included adequately in the oral presentation. The images such as photos, graphics, etc. used in the presentation should have high resolution.
  6. The fact that visuality is at the forefront in presentations is evaluated positively.
  7. The peresenter should have a good command of the subject, and to have a positive effect on the audience.

AWARD EVALUATION COMMITTEES – IMPLEMENTATION AND CONCLUSION:

Article 6. The congress organizing committee determines the method for the selection of the best oral/poster presentation. Congress organizing committee selects three candidates each for the selection of the best oral and poster presentations. The principles in the directive are taken into account in the selection of candidates.

Article 7. VPD Executive Board selects the best oral and poster presentations among the 3 candidates proposed by the congress organizing committee.

Article 8. The award is presented to a person on behalf of the team that performed the work. This person will preferably be the person presenting the research. In the absence of the presenting researcher, the award will be presented to another researcher from the team.

Article 9. Rankings such as second place, third place or honorable mention are not made.

Article 10. Award-winning studies (oral/poster) are announced by the President of the VPA at the closing of the congress. Plates are given at the congress closing dinner. Awards and documents are arranged later and delivered to the winners.

Article 11. Award amounts are determined by the VPA Executive Board for each congress. The VPA Board may not find “award worthy” studies. In this case, the award will not be given that year.


ENFORCEMENT:

Article 12. This directive enters into force from the date it is accepted by the Board of Directors of the Veterinary Pathology Association.


EXECUTION:

Article 13. The provisions of this directive are executed by the President of the Veterinary Pathology Association on behalf of the Board of Directors of the Veterinary Pathology Association.
